I have a red light flashing 3 times and white 1 time below the touchpad area on a Inspiron 1545. Help!

If you are running windows, you could check in the control panel under Power options to see if the battery is charging.
Or you could remove the battery and see if the system shows the red led when powering up?

That's the power led, it indicates if the system is on or standby.
White for On and Amber for when its on battery.
You might want to check if the power cord is coming loose?
If it's a definite RED led then it might be more serious.

It's a big bright red flash. Maybe i need to replace battery then. w check w dell then. thanks!

the red light goes away when i take out the battery. dell is going to replace it and possibly the motherboard as well. they think it may be ruin in the battery. they w be out here in a week or so. thanks!
