For Bracillus - re new Hard Drive

I'm having a similar problem, but I do not know to  "transfer the bladelike adapter which was on the old hard disk ide pins on to the new hard drive".  I have an Inspiron 4100 and just purchased a new Samsung 40g hard drive.  Is the bladelike adapter the same as Drive connectors?

Many thanks for any help.

I'm not bacillus and this is actually the BIOS forum and not the Hard drive forum, but I will anser your question.  Take a look at my web page and look at the last picture.  It will show you the connector.

You will need the caddy in order to mount the hard drive.

Thanks Bay Wolf.  I'm grateful for your response.  The 4100 does not have a hd caddy.  Is this a problem?

As bacillus mentioned, you need the caddy.  All I4100 have a hard drive caddy.  HERE is the instructions for your notebook that shows you how to remove it.  Without it, you can not install the hard drive.
