Hi. I have problem viewing .gif files. They are somewhat distorted and not showing the correct colors, the photos are like gammas set to zero. my display properties is set to 32bit. how do i fix it? i have no problem with the graphics on games though. only on websites, wallpapers that i have on my desktop and photos stored in my computer. is this something to do with my upgrading my video bios or maybe the system bios?
i am using i8500 wuxga with geforce 4200 go. resolution set to the highest optimal settings but to no avail.

I had the exact same problem, searched all over the internet but could not find a definitive answer. The dell tech support guy told me to do the following:
Go to Start > Run
Type "regedit", hit enter. This should bring up the registry editor.
On left, open up:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer
Click the "main" folder that appears. Look in the right screen for the text "UseHR". Double click. Set value to 0. Hit OK. Restart Computer.
Worked like a charm! :) Guess its all about luck with Dell, the 9th support tech I spoke to knew the answer.

I was having troubles with gif images in IE, they looked like low res. images.
So I changed this UseHR value to 0 and gif images looked perfect.
