Has Does Laptop Fail??
My friend has a 5 year old Dell Latitude Laptop which is failing. Symtoms are video goes streaky and then machine locks up.
What are Symtoms of a CPU failure?? CPU Overheating from Fan Failure??
Video card or Motherboard failure?
I am assuming a CPU or a Fan replacement is repairable but a motherboard is not.

Motherboards are replacable with a little work.

Use a can of compressed air to blowthe vents and fans clean.

I did get a can of air. Pulled keyboard and confirmed fan was running but it was was coated with dust. Used air to clean up. Unfortunately still have same problem. Machine boots fine, runs 5-10 minutes and screen goes streaky, machine locks up and reboots to Windows XP splash screen. Have to manually shutdown.
If it sits a while I can restart with same results. I guess it is finally Time to replace!!!!!
