HD Partition Problem

I have had to reinstall the OS (WinXP) on my son's Inspiron E1405. His computer seems to have been in the same shape as his room. :smileyhappy:

The first time I did that, I thought I had selected an option that reformatted the HD and reinstalled the OS. I was wrong. Instead, the HD was partitioned and WinXP installed on the new partation without changing the original installation, resulting in a dual boot.

So, after several internet searches, vain attempts to find simple instructions on the Dell website, and lots of trying to understand how Dell's restore disk was setup, I tried again. This time I was offered an opportunity to remove the "D" partition and overwrite the original installation on the "C" drive. Some type of reformat seems to have been performed as well.

But, the HD is supposed to be 80Gb and now it only reads 51Gb, the difference being the amount formerly assigned to the "D" partition. I have tried to find the missing 29 Gb but can't.

How can I get access to the full capacity of the HD?

Thanks,

RGS
