Try closing the software you are using and re-opening it. Or try rebooting with the HDMI cable in place.
On my 1525 I have to restart whatever program is generating the sound after plugging in the HDMI cable for the sound to be routed thru the HDMI.
I'd like to know a way to get sound out of both the HDMI and the audio jacks. ???

Hi,
There is no need to restart/reboot the system. Once the HDMI cable is plugged into the laptop and TV go to:
Control Panel > Harware and Sound > Sound
From this screen highlight HDMI and 'Set Default'. You will now have sound coming from your TV.
Unfortunately I do not know if it is possible to have sound via HDMI AND the audio jacks.
