When posting please include the model of your PC and the version of Operating System installed.   If you turn the notebook off, disconnect the HDMI cable.  Turn the notebook back on again with no HDMI cable do you have a problem with the video?  What are you using the HDMI cable with, an external monitor, a TV?  When using the external monitor or TV are you using clone mode or trying to extend the desktop?

Before you unplug the HDMI try toggling the display back to the LCD.  On a lot of notebooks you can do this by pressing FN and F8 together and you change between dual displays to single display.  Once the LCD is the primary display then try disconnecting the HDMI cable.

Please let me know if the problem continues.

About the only thing that I can suggest is to reinstall the video driver.   Completely remove the driver by going into control panel, programs and features and uninstall the nVidia driver.   Download the latest driver from support.dell.com and see if it helps.

If you have not already tried this please give it a go and then reply back here with the results.

Try Dell's FTP site, you can find the 32 bit video drivers for the N5010 there.  Here is a link

ftp://ftp.dell.com/Browse_For_Drivers/Laptops/Inspiron/Inspiron%2015%20Intel%20%28N5010%29/Video/Driver/Windows%207%2032-bit/

I don't know what the video card is on your system but you should be able to find it on this list.  Please let me know if you continue to have problems.

I want to make sure that I understand the problem, you are watching a movie, you unplug the HDMI connector, was this by accident or are you trying to move the notebook or something?  To my knowledge once the HDMI cable is unplugged the image should go blank at least on the external monitor, the image shouldn't return until you replug the HDMI cable, so what screen is having the problem, and once you do return the HDMI cable is the picture fine on the external monitor?

There is no unplugging. While i was watching the movie without any unplugging or moving something the problem occurs once in every 15-20 seconds. i wrote a new post with the name "hdmi scren problem" on this forum. i explained the whole problem.

thanks for your answer... i need solution suggestiosns.
