Hooking up external keyboard and mouse.

I want to hook up an external keyboard and mouse to my Insprion 600m.  It tells me that I can through the serial connector on the back of the laptop.  Now my question is what kind of cable connector do I need.  is there something that I can plug into the serial port that will spilt into two and let me hook up both my mouse and keyboard?  If so please let me know what it is called and where I can find one.  Thanks
