How To Enable Hyperthreading
I just purchased an Inspiron 5150 3.06gHz Mobile Pentium 4 with the 852PM chipset and A31 BIOS. I did not have Dell enable Hyperthreading by default since I did not know if I would need it at the time, but I have since found out that many of the audio tools I use (professional audio software instruments & recording tools) will benefit greatly from Hyperthreading. I have read that in the past certain Bios's and certain versions of the 3.06 were not capable of hyperthreading, but all of the information I can find now regarding the latest version of this processor/chipset/bios leads me to believe this is no longer the case, but just that Dell offers the option of switching it on. However, I do not see the option in my BIOS.
Does anybody know how to enable Hyperthreading? Is there anything I need to download from Intel?

I understand that you can order a 5150 from Dell configured with/without hyperthreading switched on by default, but I have not ready anywhere that the new P4 3.06gHz processors in all the 5150's are either hyperthreading capable or not, from what I've read they are all capable, and the only difference is the BIOS setting. What I'd like to know conclusively is why Hyperthreading is not an available option in the A31 BIOS, or if anybody knows of any tool from Intel that can make Hyperthreading possible.

John is correct. Did you have this option available when you bought your computer?
If you didn't, then you do not have hyperthreading. If you did and did not select HT Technology, then once again, you do not have HT capability.
