IEEE 1394 has quit working

I have a Inspiron E1505 and my computer crashed a few weeks ago.  Well, I have since gotten everything back but went to get video using a firewire connection and it would not work.  I've tried updating my drivers and such and it says that it is updated.  So I'm not sure what the deal is.  Does anyone know?  Also, when I go into device manager it recognizes it and says that it is working properly.

 

Also, I know this is the notebook tech board...but my desktop has since stopped working as well.  I installed the a new video card and that is when that problem started.

 

Again, being new I'm thankful for any help I can get!
