In a perfect world...

In a perfect world Dell would say... sure, which video card would you like to upgrade to.
But in this world I'm sitting here with my I-8500 (that I truly love), I've bumped it up to 2 gigs ram and would love to do something better than the 32MB 9000 Radeon card that I've got.  I've never been a gamer but lately have been playing some of the older games and quite frankly have been enjoying it.  But I've been told my video card won't like the newer games that are out.  I've read lots of threads and postings and am still somewhat confused about this so here is my question...what can I do ..I saw a 128MB Radeon DDR Mobility card for an I-8600 for sale on the web, will this work in my 8500?  If it will, would it be a pop it in install or...

Hello,

I have also a i8500, the best video card for this is the GeForce 4200... The motherboard of the 8600 is different...

Sorry.

rubbish, the best card the i8500 can take is the 128mb 9600 pro. this site explains step by step how to do it. you can also get the card by calling dell spare parts. also check the section on how to mod your card so that it does not overheat.

Call Dell and ask for Spare Parts. It's a Dell-only part.

Does anyone know off the top of their head how much the mobility radeon 9600 pro turbo currently costs to buy from dell spare parts?
