input lag

Hey everyone, i'm running an inspiron 8000 laptop with a usb mouse.

Whenever i try to load up some good ole counterstrike, i get horrible input lag. about half a second.

 

I hit the forward key

::wait .5 sec::

screen moves

 

Its really frustrating, as i cant play any more. i've downloaded the latest mouse and keyboard drivers from the dell website, with no luck. any ideas?
