Inspirion B130 Problem Charging..

When I have the lap top plugged into a/c power most of the time the screen is flickering back and forth from a/c power to battery. When I plug in the lap top I have to wiggle the cord to get it to start charging. I just bought a new power cord so could it be the battery or is it just an issue with these lap tops?!

Thanks

It is most likely a faulty power jack.  Cost to repair with a soldering shop, about $150.  If you let it go, the mainboard will eventually fail, which is more on the order of $400 plus labor to replace.

It is probably partly to do with the computer/cord combination itself.  I have a B130, and I've learned that the power cord must be constantly held into the back of the computer for it to work, which creates a pressure point on the cord, so if you're lucky you'll get a good six months' work out of a brand-new cord.  Constantly pushing it in also weakens the jack, which for me is to the point that it doesn't work anymore and my computer is currently non-functional.  Unfortunately there is only one power cord that works with the B130, and it's cruddy.  Read all the customer reviews for that product and you'll see what I mean.  I guess that's what we get for only being able to afford the "cheap" laptops!

If you are UK or EU based, you have a TWO YEAR warranty, whatever any one on here tells you.

Article 5 (1) Page 4 is the relevant clause.

I don't know about other countries...

Good luck.
