INSPIRON 1000 Display Issues
Hi there,
Hopefully some one can help me with this.....
I have a Inspiron 1000 (now outside of Warranty :smileysad:)
The screen is completely unreadable the image flickers realy badley so bad that you just get blue and white lines across the screen.
However when connected to an external monitor it works fine......
so far i have relpaced the inverter board but this has had no affect.
im now stumped for ideas on what the problem is unless there is a loose connection going from the video card to the LCD....if this is the case has anyone got a guide or a link to a guide on taking the case apart?
Cheers

It does sound more like a display electronics failure - those can usually be repaired for $100-150 by an LCD specialist.

If the external monitor doesn't show the fault, remove the keyboard and reseat the flex cable (there's no manual for this model).
If that does not fix it, replace the cable.
Still a problem? Contact an LCD repair shop.

Got the machine apart, re-sitted the LCD screen cable....seemed to solve the problem.... can acess the bios now the delldiag tests run with no problems.....
Can start up windows in VGA mode and in Safe Mode and the display is fine....
but if i change the screen res above the min setting of low (8-BIT) the screen is reduced to the top 1/4 and the image is unreadable/flickering.... any ideas on getting past this problem?
i presume that the inverter is not at fault as all the diagnositcs ran with no faults...
Cheers for the response so far :smileyvery-happy:
