Inspiron 1100 and fan error!!!!!

Can you please tell me what I should do?

Whenever I use the notebook on for long time for a week or 3 week, Problem#1) the hard drive clicks and seems like about to fail.  Then, I leave the notebook for about 30min or less, it works fine for another week or 3weeks.  But, when I ran diagnostics cd, it did not find any hard drive failure or error Problem#2) although it found fan error # 3700:001B.  Description was something like "expected rpm of 3000 - detected fan rpm 4272.  It sounds like computer is overheating.

Please let me know what I should do about hard drive clicking and fan error.  I believe the notebook is now out of warranty, but does the Fujitsu or Dell give 3yrs warranty on hard drive?  I am not sure this hard drive clicking is known issue for Fujitsu harddrive because I already replaced the hard drive once about a year ago under warranty. I have Fujitsu MHT2030AT.  Thank you.

If it's out of warranty the fans I've heard are fairly cheap and fairly easy to replace...

As for the hard-drive, I believe it has the same warranty as the rest of the system, whatever you decided to purchase...

I was having a problem with my hard drive recently that sounds similar to what you described. After running for awhile the drive would make unusual noises, read slowly, and sometimes crash. And after leaving it off for a while it would run fine again. After talking to the phone tech support I ran the diagnostics CD and it didn't find any HD errors.

Well, I didn't believe it, so I waited until it was doing it again, then immediately restarted and ran the diagnostic CD. I got so many HD errors that the guy on the phone got tired of hearing me read them off to him. So try that to see if your HD really has a problem.
