Inspiron 1501 Single Random Beep

Hi,

Sadly my warrantly has ran out and now all of a sudden I'm having trouble with a single beep which happens randomly. Sometimes I get 3 in an hour, and other times none for 3 hours, its annoying.

The beep is high pitched and short. I also think I heard a curious sound coming from the left handside of the notebook, like a grinding or something... I aint sure of exactly what I heard, or if it did come from the notebook, but I'm going to run dskchk and then memtest, as I heard one beep usually indicates memory problems.

Has anyone had this problem? and if so, is there a easy solution? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Vince

P.s. I'm running XP home Sp2.

Hi
On the left back side of the 1501 is a fan that controls the heat for the cpu
the bearings may be going bad and the fan may need to be replaced
the beep may mean the cpu is getting hot on you!!
You may try to clean it and see what happens first!!
Look here
Just a guess on my end thou!!
Good Luck
