Inspiron 1501 touchpad issues
About a month ago my touchpad started to act up. I couldn't use the touchpad to click on anything with any consistency. I tried the reinstall of the driver but no change. I bought a new touchpad assembly and it worked perfectly for about a week. Now the pad part works but the scroll feature doesn't. When I install the latest driver from Synaptics the scroll works but the pad is erratic. I've rolled the driver back to the 2006 edition and the pad works perfectly but no scroll. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium. HELP !!!

Hello GardencityGuy,
Please click here to get the latest version of Synaptic Drivers for the system. Please select the first option Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 64/32-bit Edition v16.2.21". Download and install the driver and check the functionality.
I would suggest a clean re-installation of the touch-pad drivers. Please follow the steps:
-- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
-- Double-click System, click Hardware, and then click Device Manager.
-- Click the PLUS SIGN to expand Mice and Other Pointing Devices.
-- Right click on the touch-pad drivers and click Uninstall. Check the box “Delete driver software for this device”, click OK and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall.
Once uninstalled, restart the computer and install the latest version of the touch-pad drivers. Restart the computer and check the functionality.

Sorry for the delay. I've tried all the drivers but nothing seems to work. I used a mouse and it works fine. Is it possible the new touchpad is bad? It worked perfectly after I installed it for a while
