Inspiron 1525
My laptop is now very slow and crashes every now and then. So I need to reinstall the Vista Operating System bu the big problem is that the CD/DVD drive is no longer working. Please me fix my computer.

Hi Yowing,
I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.

Thanks to BC Ravi who suggested to run the Diagnostics. It took me 2 days to reply to his email because I attempted to to run and rerun it for 2 days which failed. Every time the test reached WCMch, my laptop would close. Is my pc now useless?

Unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec. Remove the cover at the bottom of the system and remove and reinstall both memory modules. Re-test. If you still see the memory error, try each module one at a time in each socket until you isolate the bad module (replace it) or the bad socket (for that you'll need to replace the mainboard).

Thank you ein63 for the instruction which I followed, after which I did the test again. This time I reached Partition. I pressed a key as instructed, then there appeared: "Diagnostic not found on the utility partition"., nevertheless, I struck a key and the computer turned off. When I witched it on, what came next was "Windows Error Recovery". So nothing was resolved! Anymore way to go?

Hi Yowing,
I would suggest you to run a thorough test on the system. You can download MyDell from the link below and run the PC CHECKUP to check for issues

Please let me know the findings.

Follow the instructions here to make a bootable diagnostics USB:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/f12-preboot-diagnostics/
Then run the full extended tests.

Hi,
I have just finished Checkup. "All system test were completed successfully. Overall test result: Passed".
What now?
