Inspiron 5100 screen replacement

Hello,

I dropped my 5100 and the screen now looks like a spider web.

I would like to replace it and would prefer to get a used one due to the fact that we have another laptop we use.  The 5100 will be internet only now and maybe some music recording.

Is ebay a good bet for replacement?

Can I just pull the current one off and put the replacement on with no problems or extra stuff to do?

Thank you in advance for you help.  I appreciate any advice you can give.

Jeff

You need a screen from another 5100, and if it's not the exact same model you have now, be sure you get the cable and inverter for the new screen.

Thank You,
I have an SXGA+ TFT Display

So I will be looking for the exact replacement to switch it out.

Thanks

I found this one on eBay.  It says it is for an inspiron 5100.  It also says that is does not have an inverter..

Will I need an inverter if I buy this one?  Do I have this part on my current broken display that I can use on the new one...

Thanks, and again, I appreciate it.

Jeff

If you have exactly the same model screen, you should not need an inverter. If you have a different model screen, you will.
