Inspiron 600m LCD screen overheating problem
I was wondering how to prevent my lcd screen from getting ruined on my 600m. Right by the dell logo, it gets really hot, and recently, my lcd screen developed a dim area like a shadow over the screen. It is extremely hot in that area. I have been monitoring the temperatures internally, and the HDD and motherboard stay below 50 degrees C. How can I prevent this from getting worse? Is the heat causing the shadow? When I say the dell logo is hot, I'm talking hot enough to fry eggs.

I too have a Inspiron 600m that is overheating in the same spot by the Dell logo. Dark shadow appearing as well. This only occurs when I use the outlet in the house I{m living in (at the moment in El Salvador for the year, though the voltage here is the same as the US). When I plug into other outlets or run off battery there is not problem. Anyone know if there is anything I can do to regulate the voltage in my house?
Also, when I direct a fan on the computer the temperature remains normal...is this a solution? I think it should prevent further damage to the LCD, but can other parts of the computer be damaged if there is higher than normal voltage running through the circuits?
Any advice would be appreciated since Dell Tech support keeps telling me to send the computer in, and don´t seem to listen when I tell them I´m in El Salvador and that´s not an option at this point.
Thanks

I have the exact same problem on my 600M; does replacing the inverter solve this problem? Or is my LCD dying slowly?
