Inspiron 700M battery problem

If you are under warranty, contact Dell. Have you checked the battery recall page? You might need a new battery and even if you are out of warranty, you might be covered by the recall. Link is above.

My laptop won't run off my battery anymore. When I have the battery plugged into it, I get a warning message when I start up "The battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge batteries until this battery is removed." I removed it and plugged it back in and nothing happened. It will only run through the adapter. Please help!

 

it seems like the battery was damaged sumhow. if it was the original battery and its still under warranty...u better get it checked. otherwise, if it was a new battery "third party battery" as everyone calls them, u better get it checked if it is compatible with the laptop.

The same thing is happening to me..I can only work on AC since this message started appearing on my startup sessions... I read somewhere in this forum that this might be a BIOS probem but I have no idea how to check if this is so or how to updatre my Bios without harming my system...
