inspiron 8500 casing
i was recently cleaning and jostled a shelf enough for a ceramics piece to fall onto my inspiron 8500. the plastic above the lcd moniter cracked, and there was enough shock for the battery to fall out. the screen turned black, even though it was running on electricity from an outlet. when i reattached the battery the system seemed to run smoothly. i was wondering if the shock could have done lasting damage to the system. i was also wondering if it was possible that i could get the crack above my moniter repaired, and how. thank you.

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Without knowing more about what happened it is impossible to determine what amount of damage may have been done. Customer caused damage is not covered under warranty. You can contact Technical Support about an out of warranty repair. The repair should cover replacing the cracked case parts, and checking out the system for any damage. There is an additional charge for replacement of the LCD, or motherboard. Please contact Technical Support for full details.
