Inspiron 8500 CPU
What is the largest CPU that you can put into an Inspiron 8500 (laptop)? Can you put in any of the CPU's (2.66 to 3.2 [478 pin]) that have Hyper Treading?
I have everything on my computer maxed out except for the CPU. I would like to put in a faster CPU, that has a larger L2 Cache.

The 8500 takes ONLY the mobile P4-m CPU - nothing else. No desktop P4, no mobile P4 (without the -m), no Pentium M, or any successor (Core) CPUs.
The very fastest mobile P4-m made in volume was the 2.4 GHz unit. There are 2.5 and 2.6 CPUs, but they are much rarer, having been made in very small numbers. All are long out of production - used is the only way you will find them.

So the fastest processor for this board is a 2.6 GHz, 400 MHz bus? Or can it use any P4-m CPU's (up to 3.2GHz)?
Is this the same for Precision M60 motherboard?

The fastest mobile P4-m is the 2.6/400. They were never produced at higher speed.
