Inspiron 8500

Greetings!

I have an Inspiron 8500 I am looking at for an associate. I am A+ certified and have some laptop experience. The problem I am seeing here is the light is flashing at the battery, as I twist the display at the top right corner. When I let go the light goes out, nothing there. As I apply twisting to the lcd again the light starts flashing? still won't power on when I get the light to keep flickering? any suggestions would be great! Have a Great Day!

Check the plunger switch on the strip above the keyboard. It could be faulty. Otherwise, it sounds like your system board is faulty.

Thanks for the quick reply. How would I check that switch? I asked the girl "if she had dropped it" she said it had been dropped. So I don't know if something is loose inside or what. Is there any Dell lights on this system that would tell me the mobo is shot?

Thanks!

Nearly 100% certainty: the power jack has been damaged, or some other part of the system board.

the reed switch is underneath the right hinge cover. its a white little switch that turns the lcd off when you close the lid. try to check the hinges too if they're still tight.
