Inspiron 9100 mistake

I messed up.  A few months ago I bought a fully-loaded Inspiron 9100 that runs like a champ but is breaking my back.  I thought I could handle the weight each day but I was wrong.

I would like to trade it for a lighter notebook.  Any advice on how to go about this?  I am looking for a simple, trustworthy way to make the trade.  I'd rather not mess with eBay.  I am in the Washington, DC area.

Dell won't take it back. You'll need to do craig's list or ebay.

or buy a case with wheels ;p

or buy an extra battery and AC adapter for your "other location" so you don't have to carry those parts

What are the exact specs on your laptop i.e. screen resolution, RAM, HD, GPU, etc?

Here are the specs:

P4 /  3.20 GHz
1 GB DDR 400 MHz 2 DIMMS
15.4" WUXGA
XP Pro / Office Pro 2003
40 GB HD
64 MB DDR ATI Mobility graphics
4x CD/DVD burner (DVD+RW/+R)
Dell 1450 (a/b/g 54 Mbps)
Bluetooth internal card
TrueMobile 5100 GPRS PC card

Already bought an extra "power brick" (adapter) for my other location; even without the adapter and the battery it's still too heavy to carry every day . . .

I you can't live with the weight I would say your best bet is to sell it on Ebay or perhaps see if someone is on these boards who would make a trade with you (although I am not sure if Dell frowns upon using these boards in that manner).

How much does the 9100 weight?  I am guessing about 8 or 9 pounds.  I guess another option is to start hitting the dumbells more at the gym . . .

The funny (well, I guess not so funny) thing is that I assumed that the weight would not be a problem because I do lift weights.  But even Arnold at his prime is not going to enjoy a 10-minute walk with a 10-lb. weight suspended from his trapezius!

I am considering upgrading to the 9200 this holiday season, so I may be in the same boat has you.  However luckily I don't travel as much as I used to with work.  I am probably going to sell my decked out 8600 on Ebay.  It should be interesting to see how the auction goes.  Best of luck!

Try a backpack type bag.  It works well for my XPS and I ain't no spring chicken (42). :)
