Inspiron 9100

I just purchased a new 9100 and I want to change my screen resolution to 1680x1050.

Right now it looks like it is maxed out at 1280x800.  I know that the 8600 has this option.  I want to play poker and be able to see 4 games at one time.

Is there something that I am missing?  Why can't I make the screen resolution smaller?

There are other options like using the 2nd monitor and the options go up to 2048x1536.

What resolution screen did you purchase with the system?

If you got the low-end WXGA display, the max is 1280X800 - only if you ordered the WSXGA+ or WUXGA displays will you be able to go higher in resolution.

Apparently I need to upgrade... does 8x sound right?

I didn't know there were different options.  I thought it was a driver issue.

Oh ok thanks.

If you upgrade the screen, you also lose your warranty. If you are within 21 days from shipment, send the system back and re-order, if you can (the 9100 is a discontinued model now).
