Inspiron B120-Battery Problem??

I have an Inspiron B120. I purchased it less than 6 months ago new from Dell. Whenever I unplug the battery from the computer it goes dead. Also, the green and orange lights flash on the computer. I have seen that this could be a sign of a dead battery. Should this be the case? My computer is less than 6 months old. I think I am 3 months outside the standard warranty....Any recommendations? Thanks for your help.

90 days is certainly not a "standard warranty." One year is more like it. Contact Dell or check your support page with your service tag and find out if you're covered. And are you sure you're removing the battery--which takes some effort and is behind a panel--or unplugging the power adapter? http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/en/details?c=us&l=en&s=gen

90 days was standard for budget models until recently. It sounds like the system board is faulty.

I am actually unplugging the adaptor cord from the computer. Does this still sound like a battery issue? I sometimes like to be mobile with my laptop and now I cannot do this without using the cords to plug into an outlet.
