Inspiron Battery

In my opinion Dell should expand their battery warranty for whomever purchased their notebooks in 2005, 2006 & thereafter at least 2 years or more. During last weekend (on Saturday, Oct 13, 2007) I've noticed my Inspiron E1705 battery life has been significantly shorten its life, but couple days before it was so fine. It used to last at least 2 hours or more and now it CANNOT last to 40 minutes even the battery is fully charged. Why Dell battery life keep doing this just a couple months after its warranty (12months). I've been taking really good care of my laptop and not a powerful (heavy) user, I barely used DVD drive or watching video and never play any game at all. I'm using my laptop just for education, research and some programmings only. I'm not the only one having this problem, I've seen many other people posted their complaints having the same issues I'm facing. Dell battery just died out 2 or 3 months after its warranty expired. Do Dell embedded the date/clock in their battery or what, it seem to me that Dell purchasers are having the same old problem back to back. In my opinion Dell DO KNOW this is going to be occurred, that is why its laptop have been embedded a small program to alert the user to purchase new battery from Dell and its alert pop-up window just so right in time. If Dell do this on purpose due to safety or cannot improve battery life, PLEASE expand your battery warranty. Laptop is not cheap, I hope Dell can resolve its battery issue. Yeah Tomas, agree w/ you, after my first 6 months of owning it, I did some research how to keep the battery and laptop last longer and I had read somewhere that said exact the same thing you've been doing and so did I. I've been taking really good care of my laptop because I'm sure of myself that I can hardly afford another one after this. I just don't want to list everything here, but I know I've done so much to keep well of it and that's why I'm a little dissatisfied w/ Dell quality. If I haven't done so then I wouldn't have a comment here. The thing is my brother's laptop original battery is 4 years older than mine and it's still last much longer than mine right now (not to mention that he didn't take good care of it), his original capacity was as same as mine.. Dell is downgrading its quality, because I saw, I heard and I read so much complaints about it. Well,,just let it be, Dell meltdown.

Just be sure you realize you may wind up trading your Chevrolet for a Pontiac. The company that made your 6400 for Dell is Quanta - the largest supplier to Toshiba, Sony, HP/Compaq, Gateway, and a major supplier to a host of others - that company alone makes between 40-50% of all notebook computers, regardless of the name on the outside.
