Inspiron E1505 adapter

My adapter has been working fine for the past year now..but lately it will not charge my battery anymore.  I keep getting a message "Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge.  Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or higher for best system operation.  I don't understand why it's doing this all of a sudden since I have been using my adapter for the past year.  My girlfriend has a Dell 65W AC adapter and when I use that it charges my battery..but I don't understand why my battery all of a sudden needs a 65W adapter to be charged when the one I currently have has been charging it for the past year..any ideas?

It could be the adapter is faulty, or it could be a sign the power jack on the mainboard is faulty.

If you're in warranty, call Dell.

If you're out of warranty, the adapter costs $50 or so, vs. $150 to repair or $400-500 to replace the mainboard, so it may be worth trying another adapter.
