Inspiron E1505 - Screen problem - follow up

Hello,

I have an Inspiron E1505 (The warranty expired 2 month ago) that is having video problems: Two weeks ago it started to to have a shadow on the left side of the screen. It stayed like that for 2 weeks. A few days ago it started doing a buzzing noise and the screen flickers. Then sometimes the screen turns completely dark. If I turn it into sleep mode and then upen the screen again the screen is lit for a few seconds and goes dark again.

After waiting for a day the screen works again. No shadow appears after booting, but after a few minutes I get the annoying shadow again. I'm waiting for the buzzing, flickering, going dark, shadow cycle again. :)

Anyway I can know what kind of problem I have?

Can it just be a loose connector? Inverter? Backlight? LCD?

Also, in this model, does the backlight come separate from the LCD?

Thanks in advance

Alejandro

It could be either the inverter or the backlight. The former is a separate board behind the screen; the latter is an internal component of the screen itself.

Thank you very much for your answer. One more question: I've been able to dissasemble the display, but not the keyboard. I've removed the screws as suggested in http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6400/en/sm/keyboard.htm#wp1111863 But the keyboard is still attached somehow, I don't want to pull too hard. Any ideas? I need to do this to dislodge the display cables. Thanks in advance. Alex

Keyboard removed!

Is there any way I can know if it is the inverter or the backlight?
