INSPIRON MINI 1012 HANGS IN BIOS LOADING

Hi Inspiron mini 1012,

I suggest that you shut the system down, remove the battery and disconnect the ac adapter, press and hold the power button for 20 to 30 seconds.  Now connect only the ac adapter and wait for 30 seconds and turn on the system. This will drain any residual charge in the capacitors.

In case the system does not turn on, I request you reset BIOS defaults. To set BIOS defaults restart the system and at Dell logo tap the F2 key on the keyboard every two seconds. In the BIOS screen press F9 to load defaults and F10 to Save and Exit.

I also recommend you to run diagnostics on the hardware components of the system. To run diagnostics restart the system and at the Dell logo tap the F12 key every two seconds. Refer to this link to for assistance.

Please reply to this post in case of any error message.

Also check if you are able to start the system in safe mode. To go to ‘Safe Mode’ restart the system and at the Dell logo tap the F8 key every two seconds. In the ‘Advanced Boot options’ window using arrow keys,  select ‘Safe Mode’ and hit enter.

Please reply with the status to assist you further.

Along with the clicking noise, you have informed that there was an error message while running diagnostics. Please provide the error message in detail, which will help us in identifying which part is faulty.

i  have tried all your suggestions on this page.  my problem is that i have a message saying.   "STAGE 1 OF 2

PREPARING TO CONFIGURE WINDOWS. "

" FAILURE  CONFIGURING SERVICE PACK

REVERTING CHANGES."

"DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER"

 i have been watching this now for several days and i give it at least three hours each time ,but it cant get  past tis page.

any suggestions.  All other  tests as per you page has shown no faulty equipment.

I recommend you to restore the system to the previous date when the system was booting fine. Follow the instruction given in the link below for system restore:

The instruction given in the above link is for windows 7 Operating system. Follow the steps given in Method 2.

Revert for further assistance. Let me know if the system has different Operating system and also provide the system model.

I have similar problem,that is the DELL logo hangs whiles booting,but I realized that the F12 option is faded when it is supposed to pick the right booting device,so sometimes  if I press on any of the F keys it boots,sometimes i really struggle to get it done,but the problem still persist

Hi sir sujatha k, I think I have a similar problem with this. I did all your suggestions too but it did not work.. Instead, it keeps on flashing texts like this.

Check setup (F2) for the hard drive - if it's not showing up, it has failed.  In that case, you will need to weigh the cost of data recovery (several hundred dollars' minimum) against the value of the data.

If the drive IS showing, remove it and mount it in a working system to see if you can still read your data.

Hello, i have a similar problem

I've installed a new SSD on the laptop inspiron mini 1012

My problem is when my mini1012 loses all energy, the ssd is not recognized , and the load bar is stuck in 70% aprox for 3 minutes, then it pass and receive the message of "PXE system not found" [because the ssd is not recognized]

I must reconnect in a "hot plug " way to the ssd to be recognized again,

The ssd is a Kingston ssdnow300 120 gb, and works ok in other PCs

The Bios is configured on AHCI

The SO is XP

The Bios is on version A12
