Inspiron n5030 problem
Hi, I was using my n5030 at work yesterday, shut down & restarted several times, no problems. When I got home & tried to use it I got a blank blue screen. I've tried start up repair, bios, booting from a disk and USB all to no avail. The diagnostic has given me the error code 0f00:1332 & disk blocks 37274562, 37274690 & 37274818 before i gave up. When I was using the laptop I had the mouse & a USB connected but nothing out of the ordinary. I wasn't connected to the Internet all day & the laptop performed with no issues at all the whole day. Help please?

The bad blocks refer to a hard drive that is rapidly headed for the recycle bin. You need a new hard drive.

Hi, not good. Any idea why or how the laptop could capitulate so suddenly? I'm normally a Mac user and have never encountered such problems - this was my first pc laptop. It literally must have happened within half an hour. I'd been using the laptop on & off all day with absolutely no performance issues and no internet use (on the off-chance that it could have been a virus - I have Kaperski installed and am very careful about downloading & websites visited). I basically got home switched the laptop on & that was it. No signs throughout the day that there was any kind of problem.

Hard drives are the same whether used in Macs, PCs or DVRs -- they can fail for any of a host of reasons at any time. I have two relatively new iMacs here that have dead drives in them -- they run too hot, so they kill drives. Unfortunately, Apple has seen fit to make the drives VERY difficult to remove (something you'll find Dell has copied on your system as well).

Thanks for the reply ENJ. While I've got your attention i'd like to prevail on you a bit more. I'm not at all technically minded (something i intend to remedy - looking to do some courses of some sort) but would it be possible to have a bigger hard drive fitted to my n5030? Off the top of my head i think it's currently a 320 (can't be sure as i can't start it up to check & it doesn't say on the back) so could i have a 500mb drive fitted instead? Seen these for about £40. What about extra memory too and if so how much would be best? Would any of this be worthwhile? Thanks for your advice in advance.
