Intall 64bit Windows 7 Pro

I have a Dell E5430 Latitude pre-installed with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. Is it possible to install 64bit version of Windows 7 Pro in it without the recovery disc? I have the Windows 7 pro 32bit COA on my laptop

Hi ChandlerRoss,

You would need Windows 7 Pro 64bit disc to replace the 32bit version of Windows. You can use the same Product key available on the COA label. Please send me a private message with the computer's service tag, Name registered during the system purchase, email address so that I can check and assist you further in sending the operating disc as an exception for one time. To send a private message, click on my name and send me a private message.

I'm not sure whether Dell will send you out the Dell Windows 7 64 Bit with Service Pack 1 Professional Reinstallation DVD as far as I know they only ship out media for the original OS.

However your license covers both, see my Windows Reinstallation Guide/A Clean Install of Windows:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/a-clean-install-of-windows/

You can use the Activation Backup and Recovery Program to backup your product activation and then use a Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 and Media Refresh 64 Bit .iso and clean install without entering a product key. After installation you may restore your product activation using the ABR program.
