Invisible Flashdrive
I have a Vostro 1520 that I've never had trouble with. Today I tried to play a DVD & it wouldn't work. Then I tried to use a flashdrive & IT wouldn't work.
I fixed the DVD problem [thanks to this forum], but, no luck w/the flashdrive.
I may as well be sticking the dad-blamed thing in my ear. It is invisible to my computer. I have tried all 3 usb ports and 2 different flashdrives...nada.
I tried one of the drives in a different laptop & it worked fine. I tried other things in my ports & THEY work fine...
Where do I go from here?
Help me, please...

Hi Riobha,
Welcome to the Community. You can try deleting your USB root hubs. Make sure you do not have any usb devices connected. Right Click on the Computer icon on your desktop, click properties, click device manager, click on the "+" sign next to Universal Bus Controllers, right click on USB root hub, and click uninstall, remove all the UBS hubs that is listed under there, and restart your computer.
Hope this helps.
Thank you
Royan

THX for the timely reply!
I don't know if this would have helped or not, because...the next day they all started working again!
Computers are soooo weird.
If my flashdrives quit again I will try this.
THZ again,
Riobha
