Is my D600 has Bluetooth installed?

With the following System Configuration:
1  1U746  CARD (CIRCUIT), WIRELESS, INTERNAL, BLUETOOTH, BII
J4781 CARD (CIRCUIT), WIRELESS, MINI PCI CARD, 1450, BROADCOM CORPORATION

does this means i have Bluetooth module installed?. If YES, than why is the Bloetooth setting in the BIOS 'Not Installed'.

This is a company own laptop, bought in US but now i am living in Jakarta - Indonesia, is there any DELL service in this town?

Hi,

It sounds like you have it , but not working. This is common on that model, and may need a motherboard. There should also be a lable underneath to say it is fitted. Im not aware of service there either so check with Dell, you may have to send it to Darwin. It may be a reseat, so if not under warranty you may be able to fix it yourself. The manual is from the product support tab above. ( a number of steps )

This may or may not be the solution here, but sometimes hardware (for whatever reason) is not recognised right away by windows. Like chris said, it may be a problem with motherboard connection, or you may just have to phisically download the drivers using control pannel options. There's an icon for drivers and devices. Give that a shot, and if it doesnt work..... well... sorry, I cant help.

Common problem i'm afraid with the D600, mainly a problem with the bt connector on the mobo, or sometimes a faulty bt module.

Thanks for all information and suggestions.

I like to update what i have found about bluetooth so far:
- is bluetooth installed?. AussieChrist said yes amd also at the bottom of  the laptop there is a label about Bluetooth module that was installed.
- is it probably a driver issue? i don;t think it is since i never change any setting regarding bluetooth.
- reseating the bluetooth module seems difficult since keyboard, lcd have to be remove (see User guide).
- from  a CS at Dell Jakarta Rep. Office, i can have my laptop repair in Jakarta. However, the warranty should be transfered first since the laptop is bought n US. Here is the link to warranty transfer form: www.dell.com/dhs/globaltagtransfer/

I have looked in the BIOS for Bluetooth setting but it said 'Not Installed'. However, the label at the bottom of the laptop and the system config. data (retrieve from DELL site using Service Tag) suggested otherwise.

Hi,

They are often intermittent, but often you will get a USB error / device found. This is another typical symptom. If you press down on the front LHS corner of the palm-rest, you may see the blue LED come on. ( dont press too hard..... )

Hi Chris,

you are correct about USB error. I did see it couple of times, i though it was due to the docking station or flashdisk. I will try your advice, press down on the front LHS corner of the palm-rest.

Thanks
