Keyboard backlight control documentation
I have a Studio 1555 with backlit keyboard. The backlight can be toggled via the Windows Mobility Center or the C:\Program Files\Dell\QuickSet\BacklitKB.exe. My question is: Is there a documentation or even source code how to write a application which toggles the backlight?

Peter232,
Usually if you press Fn and then press the right arrow, it will turn it to high, low and off. That's all the functions that it has.

Hello Rick,
thanks for your reply. This is however not the answer I am looking for. I know that the backlight can be toggled via the keyboard (btw: the combination for the Studio 1555 models is not Fn+right arrow but Fn+F6). But as I wrote in my original post the backlight can , at least on the Studios 1555, be toggled by Dells BacklitKB.exe without pressing any keys. It is therefore possible to toggle the light programmatically. I am looking for a way to do so in my own program. With this it would be possible to turn the backlight on or off at a certain time or event (keyboard lights up if a mail arrives would be nice). I've searched all over Dells website and the internet but could not find any hint how this can be accomplished.

Peter,
I looked all around and I cannot find documentation for any backlit keyboards for any computers. I thing they just have the basic functions, high, low and off.

It is probably true that they only have these 3 options, nevertheless can they be toggled by software. I just want to know how, but I figure nobody outside Dell knows how, so I most likely have to contact them directly. Thank you for your effort Rick, but because you, as almost all others here, are "just" users, my question won't be answered here. If someone happens to know the answer, please post it, otherwise your time and advice is probably better spent on people with real problems. :emotion-5:
