keyboard & mouse fail in docking station
I have a Latitude D620, and am using the docking station that came with the laptop, a Logitech mouse, and a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite.
On Thursday, everything worked just fine (and everything has been just fine since it was issued to me, over a year ago).
I undocked the laptop, took it to a training, and then left it sit in the bag over the weekend.
I came in today & docked it, and now the keyboard & mouse don't work.
I've tried various methods/sequences of powering down & restarting, unplugging things & plugging them back in, looked for updated drivers, scanned for new hardware, uninstalled the keyboard & let the system install it again - nothing works so far.
In the device manager, the keyboard is listed, but the mouse is not, and I can't get it to show up.
I can plug a different mouse & keyboard directly into the laptop, and they work that way, but I can't use the other keyboard for extended time.
I searched for a post that would help me, but couldn't find one.
help?

The "pins" on the connection between a laptop and a docking station are very tempermental. Try undocking and then re-docking, making sure to push the laptop down firmly and squarely. If the pins are cross-connected, it can show the symptoms you are seeing. You can also try to clean the connections (male and female) with an air can and then a small swab with alcohol.
good luck.
