Laptop doesn't start until it heats up

Hi all,

I've got a Studio 1555, 4GB, 320GB, Core 2 Duo. For last couple of months, I have been facing a very strange issue with my laptop. When I switch my power button, the button shows the light. I hear the sound of the system being working but nothing is displayed.

After that, when I keep my system on bed and cover it with some cloth or something, it gets heated up in 15-20 minutes. After that when I again push the power button, then the cooling fan starts working and the system works normally afterwards.

I have tried switching the display but it doesn't work anywhere. I took it to the repair guy but he doesn't understand the issue.

Please Help.

Thanks in advance,

ak

If you have not yet done so, unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Remove and reinstall both memory modules and the hard drive.

If that doesn't solve the problem, it is likely you have a bad cold solder joint somewhere on the mainboard - the system board will need replacement to solve the problem.
