Laptop overheating
Hi. I have Dell XPS 14z. In the last few days my computer has been overheating on the left side. The right side is cold, and on the left side its burning hot. Can it be my fans? Please help.

It could be, if the fan isn't running. F12 at powerup - boot to the Dell diagnostics and test the fan.
If the fan passes the diagnostic, it may be you simply need to replace the thermal compound under the heatsinks and clean the fan assembly. The heat conductive material does dry out over time and will eventually insulate the heatsink, preventing it from doing its job -- and this system is likely several years old.

Are you using an original Dell Adapter? Is the adapter frayed?
In addition to steps mentioned by ejn63,
Update the BIOS, if possible - http://dell.to/2alK6yI- restart and check.
Download the service manual here - http://dell.to/29TfGTG - to open the system and clean the air vents and fan assembly as advised by the other user.
