Laptop randomly shuts off
I have a new Inspiron 15R windows 7 64 bit and when typing (usually email or word) it randomly shuts off (like hibernates) I have to push power key to resume what I was doing. Is there some hidden shortcut I don't know about that i am accidentally executing, or is there something wrong? It seems to happen when I am using the keys with my LEFT hand on left most side of keyboard. Any insight would be much appreciated!

Since this is a new computer you should contact Dell Support. If it were hibernating, you would see a screen that said "Resuming Windows" a couple of screens after pressing the power button. It most likely is not hibernating but possibly overheating or having another hardware problem. With a laptop with a hardware problem, ask for a replacement rather than any on site repair.
Edit: the left side has the Start Button with a Hibernate option. Make sure you are not hitting that. See if it happens when you type an H.

thanks for reply. spoke with dell, turns out there is a magnet in base of computer (near wrist rest) so that when you close lid, magnet hibernates computer. I have a bracelet that is faintly magnetic, and if it got close enough to the magnet in the base, it would hibernate as if I had closed the lid. Two choices, turn off the feature of hibernating when lid closed, or remove bracelet! Not sure I found the key to which you refer (hibernate key) and hitting "h" doesn't do anything.
