Laptop wont recognize battery

I purchased a dell inspiron 1501 a little over a year ago and it just started saying that it is unable to recognize the battery when I start the computer up. It seems to be charging fairly decent but I am wondering why it keeps doing this every time I start the computer.

Same story - Inspiron won't recognize the battery, requires press F1 twice , but battery is not fully charged - just 20-25 minutes of juice.

Same thing with my laptop, all i have to do is press space bar and it continues on to the main screen , but it is still weird that it is doing this.

Do BIOS update.

It helps - problem disappears.

Hello, same problem with my inspiron 1501. Have it almost one year now and get the same message every time i start the laptop. While the AC adaptor is not been recognized, the problem is that the battery is not be charged. I contact Dell but at this time there is no solution for me. They asked if I can change another AC adaptor, but I don't know where to get one. I did update the BIOS ( rev. 6.3.2) but this had no effect. If anyone have a solution I'll try it..........:smileysad:
