Latitude Adapter not working??

My Latitude adapter has progressivly started working less effectively. Up until a couple days ago, I would just reach back and wiggle it a bit and then it would work, but now, it doesn't work at all. In fact, i only have about 30 minutes left of battery time before I'm out of luck. No adapter = no battery charge.

I have ordered another one, but I'm wondering if this is a frequent problem, or if there's a chance it's the laptop itself that is having problems (perhaps where the adapter fits in)...

anyone else heard of this happening?

PS... my adapter is not one of the recalled ones.

I played around w/it more, and it seems that it is the adapter unit... because when I play around w/the area that goes into the socket, nothing happens, but if I adjust the wire that goes into the end of the adapter cord (just before the part that actually goes into the socket), I get power. My parts should arrive tomorrow

Also, good call on the battery. I also ordered a new one, and will receive that tomorrow as well. Hopefully between those two things, I will be set for a while w/this old machine. :-)

I'll post my results

The adapter is almost certainly not the problem - if the battery is more than 2 years old, it's probably ready for replacement - and if you have to fiddle with the connector to get a connection to the charger, you're probably experiencing a damaged socket (and need a replacement system board).

GOt the adapter and battery today. Thank goodness, it did the trick, so I don't have to replace the socket/card, whatever. I think I tripped over the cord or something and it must have messed it up inside the actual cord, but fortunately the socket is OK.
