Latitude CPx Help:Battery

I have the same  computer.  I just bought a replacement battery but it does not charge.  It works with the AC adapter on but it doesn't charge with that either.  I know the problem is neither the computer nor the  adapter because when I put the old battery in, everything works just as it should.

 

What am I doing wrong or what should I be doing?

What  if I put my old battery back in that is fully charged, and did the BIOS thing, would that work? Then put the new battery back in and tried charging it?

Yes,that should work. Provided that the battery can be charged. The new BIOS specifically seems to deal with this problem(and many problems releating to battery's). However the lastest BIOS release was 2002 (A14 revision).My CPx is a European Model from 2001.Bearing in mind this is all theory. But it should work. Failing that a new laptop is probably your best bet.If you do manage a BIOS update could you let me know how you get on?

I did not have any success with the old battery and downloading the BIOS file.  I don't have a floppy drive so I wasn't able to have any luck! I may have to send my battery back and exchange it or something!
