Latitude E5510 display
The display on my Latitude E5510 is malfunctioning, all I can see is a pink smudge with vertical, black lines.
Before I buy a new LCD and cable I wanted to be sure it's not the connector on the motherboard, though.
There are no beeping sounds during the boot process. Windows starts up fine (I can still hear it) and the external output is working.
Judging by that, is there any way to tell whether it's indeed just the LCD?

I already tried hooking it up to an external monitor and everything works fine. The video chip is good.
I'm really just worried whether the connector on the motherboard could be the problem. I know it's a longshot but I'd rather not buy a new LCD and cable only to find it still won't work.
Is there no way to be sure other than replacing it?

One check worth doing is attaching an external monitor -- if it shows the same fault, you've a bad video chip and the mainboard will need to be replaced.
If it shows a good image, though chances are it's just the LCD and/or cable that needs replacement. There's no way to tell which without at least looking at the cable and connector and/or replacing parts.
