Lattude C600 CMOS Password

Question

Hi there

I have just fitted a Motherboard on my Old C 600 , I purchased this on e.bay , but when I powered it up , before windows was loaded it is saying , this system is protected by a password you can not access the data on this system without the correct password , I have contacted the seller and he told me that he bought a job lot of 20 from a local auction house !! .

is there anything I can do !!.

Return the board to the seller - it's useless to you with the password.  Require that he/she replace the board with one that is certified password-free.

Laptop motherboards don't have the clear power on password jumper or some other means of clearing it?  I know in a desktop you can either remove the battery or move the clear power on password jumper.

Above user is correct most don't have jumpers you can access.  But they all have batteries, and they can usuall be taken off.  But before you start unscrewing things, find out what version Bios you're using.  Some older versions are easy to defeat and there are a ton of aftermarket apps which can reset them.  Do a google search with your version....if all else fails take out the battery and wait a lil while.
