LCD alternates between fully red, green, blue

Question

Hi,

I have an Inspiron 5160 and the LCD just switches between a fully black, white, red, green and blue screen. No text or graphics, not even the BIOS screen.
First I thought it was a Linux problem but then I found out even the BIOS screen right after I start the laptop won't display.
My external monitor works normally though.

What could be wrong?

Try reseating the flex cable (between the mainboard and panel). If that doesn't fix the problem, you need either a new panel or to have an LCD repair shop repair the existing panel - if you're under warranty, Dell will replace it. If not, that's expensive ($500+); repair is cheaper ($200 or less).

Its only a few months old so its still under warrenty. I only began using it for a few weeks now so it broke really quickly. I don't think its normal so, what is causing this ?
