OMG.. I am having the same problem.. almost the same day.. I cant get it to go so safe mode or anything.. I called dell and the told me that they cant help me unless I pay them 59.00.
I find it very weird that more people are having the same problem on the same time frame and they are out of warrenty.
I took it to a compter Nerd "tech" and he said it passes all diagonostics and will not boot from CD either!

ok..the answers to your questions
1. Could be a HDD problem (run F12 at dell logo ---> diagnostics and then Custom Test ---> Hard Drive ---> Confidence, Smart, Device sel Test and Read Test). If all passes then
2. Could be a factory image problem. Try loading the image with PC Restore again (CTRL + F11 at dell logo) If doesnt work then you will have to reinstall windows by CD.
Regards.

Did you try restarting the restore process again?
