M1330 BSOD

Had my M1330 since December 07; recently starting getting a few BSOD's.

*** Hardware Malfunction

Call your hardware vendor for support

NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error

*** The system has halted ***

Laptop is standard from Dell factory except for Vista Ultimate upgrade.

Any suggestions?

I've been reported this error on many different machines.

Clearly the error doesn't make sense. Neither the main memory nor the video memory contains parity information   and could report such error.

I've never seen reports on X3100 M1330 users. Only GeForce 8400M GS. If you have a chance to upload the Minidump.dmp file (in general dropped in C:\Windows\Minidump\ directory), we might analzye it. In many cases it's nvlddmkm.sys.

This points to the graphics card driver. In most cases it helped when Dell swapped mainboard + gfx card. In other cases it was just a flawkey grahpics driver. Did you update the graphics driver and at some point of time after updating the driver this error showed up for the first time?

Run the [full] diagnostics tests on your laptop, to see of they find the cause of the problem?

If not... contact Dell tech support.
