m4600 doesn't recognized nvidia quadro 1000m
Hello!
I wanted to upgrade my graphic card driver - so I've downloaded the new version from dell official web site. I got the error that it's not compatible.. I read somewhere that it's good to uninstall the previous driver and to install the new one. Yes, but after I uninstall the old driver, my windows doesn't recognize the video card. I can't see it at the device manager at all. I have only one 2nd generation Intel(R) CORE (TM) processor family PCI Express Controller - 0101, which isn't installed properly. I guess it's something from this optimus technology, but I have no idea how to fix it. My last idea is to try to repair the windows 7 system and if not - reinstall...
Thank you!

Hi there,
I think your feeling that the nVidia Optimus technology is stopping you installing these drivers is correct. If you try the following, this should resolve the issues you're experiencing:
1) Install the chipset drivers from here: www.dell.com/.../precision-m4600
2) Install the Intel GMA HD video drivers from either of these links depending on whether you have Windows 7 32-bit version or Windows 7 64-bit version:
For Windows 7 32-bit - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/rc1050265/DriverDetails/Product/precision-m4600?driverId=3WRFM&osCode=W732&fileId=3171544946&languageCode=EN&categoryId=VI
For Windows 7 64-bit - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/rc1050265/DriverDetails/Product/precision-m4600?driverId=XGPWM&osCode=W764&fileId=3171545383&languageCode=EN&categoryId=VI
3) Install the nVidia Quadro drivers from either of these links depending on whether you have Windows 7 32-bit version or Windows 7 64-bit version:
For Windows 7 32-bit - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/rc1050265/DriverDetails/Product/precision-m4600?driverId=MWXDK&osCode=W732&fileId=3153895357&languageCode=EN&categoryId=VI
For Windows 7 64-bit - http:/www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/rc1050265/DriverDetails/Product/precision-m4600?driverId=X86RM&osCode=W764&fileId=3153895880&languageCode=EN&categoryId=VI " target="_blank">http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/rc1050265/DriverDetails/Product/precision-m4600?driverId=X86RM&osCode=W764&fileId=3153895880&languageCode=EN&categoryId=VI
4) Update the system BIOS by downloading and running the following file: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/rc1050265/DriverDetails/Product/precision-m4600?driverId=2429K&osCode=W764&fileId=3162771607&languageCode=EN&categoryId=BI (when running the BIOS update, right-click and select "Run As Administrator", also ensure that the system has the AC adapter and battery attached and that you do not interrupt the power supply when the BIOS update is running)
Let us know how you get on!

Hi VGanev,
Thank you very much for getting back in touch with us!
Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the chipset and Intel video drivers? When dealing with issues like these, it's better to start from scratch and reinstall drivers that have to be installed in a certain order and in this case, in order to install nVidia drivers for graphics cards with Optimus technology, the Intel chipset and Intel video drivers must be installed first.
I've discussed your issue with one of my colleagues here and if you have Windows 7 64-bit installed on your system, these drivers may install properly: www.nvidia.co.uk/.../quadro-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-320.00-whql-driver-uk.html
Please let us know how you get on!

Thank you for the fas reply.
The first two drivers are installed on my notebook - the chipset driver and the driver for the integrated video card. The NVIDIA installer shows "The NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of windows" ( it's the same for windows 7 64 bit ). I also tried with old version from the official dell driver download section, and with the official driver for NVIDIA Quadro 1000m from nvidia.com.. but the same problem.
