After re-installing MCE I had a similar problem. Dell sent me PowerDVD cd and after installing hap no problem playing DVDs.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software?
Other than that I have no clue. I'm sure some of the more savy members can be of greater assistance.

I don't see why it would matter. Dan't have the CD with me and not sure what version it is, but it is a dell CD that only runs on dell machines.
Hope the reinstall helps...
